The Competition Commission of India (CCI) on December 11, 2025, issued a notification regarding Anti-Competitive Practices in Liquor Trade.
The following has been stated: -
•The CCI, by order dated December 11, 2025, directed three wine and liquor merchants’ associations in Maharashtra to cease and desist from anti-competitive conduct.
•The case involved allegations of collective fixing of margins, discounts, payment terms, transportation charges, and mandatory launch conditions for alcoholic beverages.
•CCI held that issuing circulars and requiring NOCs for new product launches restricted independent commercial decision-making.
•These practices were found to violate Sections 3(3)(a), 3(3)(b), read with Section 3(1) of the Act, and office-bearers were held liable under Section 48.
